Martin Valier began his career as a civil engineering draughtsman at the Graubünden Cantonal Civil Engineering Office in Chur, specializing in road construction. In the course of his professional career, he gained experience in various engineering and architectural offices as a civil engineer, site manager and architect. He continued to work in these areas during and after his further training at the Abend Technikum. He has been self-employed since 2000 and founded Penzel Valier AG, an architectural firm, together with Christian Penzel in 2008.
